    Introduction

Destructoid Story's origins date back to March (I believe) where I was watching Clannad, an anime series derived from a visual novel. I got this idea in my mind that it might be fun to make a visual novel. Then, as a member of Destructoid's community, I thought it would be funny to write a visual novel involving my two best friends from Destructoid (Firion and Brightside) and I. It'd be more of a joke than anything else. I'd make it in RPG Maker VX Ace, as I felt most comfortable using RPG Maker at the time (and still do). But then the project grew. And grew. More characters were added. Various story paths were fleshed out. The project became bigger than I could have ever imagined. Long story short, I worked my butt off on it for a month straight and the result was the Destructoid Story that we have today. I still can't believe I actually finished a project (for once).

I hope you all enjoy it.

    Synopsis

    Story

It's difficult to describe Destructoid Story. How does one go about describing a visual novel that changes genres as many times as Destructoid Story does? Horror, romance, slice-of-life, action, adventure, mystery, etc. Destructoid Story has it all, depending on what path you choose to take. Seeing as the plot varies so drastically from path to path, it's difficult to give away many details without spoiling something or another.

But I suppose I'll try. Here goes...

A totally unimportant, not-at-all-special girl named Firion moves from the West Coast of the United States to the East Coast and begins attending Destructoid High. Little does she know, things are about to get very weird. Adventures of all kinds await in Destructoid High. Depending on who she chooses to befriend, she may travel through time and space, witness a basketball game to decide the fate of the human race, or even die.

Considering that last one...is it too late to transfer schools?

    Features

Destructoid Story Remastered is a visual novel that simply attempts to be stupid fun. The situations can be crazy and unrealistic at times, but hopefully they lead to an enjoyable time for the player. It features a colorful cast of characters both old (from other video games) and new (members of Destructoid's community). But thankfully, the player does not need to be a member of Destructoid's community or even like Destructoid to enjoy Destructoid Story. The player may miss out on a few inside jokes, but on the whole, Destructoid Story can be a perfectly enjoyable experience for any player. Destructoid Story Remastered also features a soundtrack pieced together from those of other video games, providing recognizable tracks to listen to while you play.

Because Destructoid Story Remastered switches genres between paths, if the player dislikes one path he/she is going down, that does not necessarily mean that the player will not enjoy the other paths in Destructoid Story. There are many adventures to be had in Destructoid Story Remastered, all unique in flavor. Should the player wish to go down every path and experience all that Destructoid Story Remastered has to offer, he/she will find that it has Destructoid Story Remastered has approximately eight hours worth of content. For the player's convenience, flowcharts that cover each path of the game are provided so that the player can plan his/her saves in advance and access all of Destructoid Story Remastered's content with as little fuss as possible.

So why the "Remastered" bit on the end of Destructoid Story? The original version was released back in April of 2014 on Destructoid, but I noticed after its release that it still had quite a few problems, grammatical and otherwise. This remastered version attempts to fix as many of those issues as possible to provide a well-polished experience for the player.

    Main Characters

Click on a spoiler tag to see a picture of each character in question (pulled from the Destructoid Story teaser for the sake of my convenience, and on top of that I just think these look cool). These main characters include Firion (the protagonist) and the three characters that each of the three main paths of Destructoid Story Remastered are centered around.

    Firion

    Spoiler
    as7RJtf.png

Firion is the protagonist of Destructoid Story. As our story begins, she moves from the West Coast of the United States to the East Coast and begins attending Destructoid High. When our story begins, Firion is friendly, but reserved. But as the story continues, her personality may begin to change...

    Brightside

    Spoiler
    qducKCF.png

Brightside is the resident cool kid of Destructoid High. He's rich, handsome, and likes all things "cool". But of course, there's a catch. Brightside's an arrogant rear end in a top hat. He might not outright say it, but it's obvious that he thinks he's better than everyone else. Also, he's a cat man. Don't question it. Embrace it.

    Marche

    Spoiler
    Vd6Mrk5.png

Marche is one student at Destructoid High who just goes with the flow. He's totally laid back, and a bit sarcastic to boot. He's a member of Destructoid High's Science Club. But why someone like him is a member of the science club is anyone's guess. He's pretty friendly, so it wouldn't hurt to get to know him.

    Browneye

    Spoiler
    Xy9HM2C.png

Browneye is Destructoid High's anatomy teacher, and he's a total weirdo. When it comes to the human body, Browneye doesn't know jack squat. On top of that, he's lazy and often acts like he can't be bothered to do simple, menial tasks himself. Just what is this guy's deal?

    Teaser Trailer

This is the teaser trailer for the original release. It's the game's intro, which was made in the style of Cowboy Bebop's opening

    Credits

This game has a ridiculous amount of credits. I don't recommend reading through them if you're interested in playing Destructoid Story Remastered. There are quite a few spoilers within. (Although if you want to click the spoiler just to see how big the list is, be my guest. Believe me, it's not fun typing it all out.)

    Conclusion

Don't have much else to say that I can think of at the moment. At least, not without spoiling anything further. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Considering that the game is basically already done and I just have to proofread it (better than I did before), it shouldn't be long before this is released, so hang tight for a few days and I hope you enjoy Destructoid Story Remastered when it's released.

And it goes without saying, but once Destructoid Story Remastered is released I'll be looking forward to any critique that anyone has to offer. I don't know if I'll ever make a visual novel again (belting out an eight hour visual novel in a month can really take the wind out of your sails), but even if I don't the critique will be much appreciated.
