I was doing some reading in FAQ thread and noticed the dropbox link is dead for the resources package. This section here:
https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/rpg-maker-mv-faq.49655/
Why is my database so empty? Where's the full database?
The full database is available as a separate download:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17078211/RMMV_data.rar
You can copy all the files into your project, or just the ones you need. Back up your project first. If you made changes to your database, they will be overwritten. Also note that when copying the full database folder it also resets as "Start Transparent" in DB>System>Options.
I just reinstalled RPG Maker using the full download for v161w so do I need to grab anything else or is the resources package included in the DL now?
Is the FAQ out of date?
Database links on dropbox are dead?

Dropbox changed how share link works, iirc one or two years ago. A lot of people who already generated the links wouldn't work. You need to contact all people who shared the dropbox link to fix that.

That kinda sucks. So the FAQ is pretty much out of date then.

@TheoAllen this has nothing to do with dropbox policies, the reason why the download was removed is something else
@Snarkyfork you do not need to download anything extra, that other database is already included in your installation. just go into your program folder and you'll see a folder "newdataEN", that is the content of that old link -
Ok, I was hoping that was the case. Don't get me wrong but I am trying to judge how much effort has been done on the part of the developers to keep everything updated and how much work I need to do myself. Judging from the Japanese site I assume RPG Maker is made by Japanese developers and it seems a LOT of work has been done by the community to support english users. I also noticed some of the original posters for the FAQ's and various other sticky threads haven't been active for a long time so I kinda got worried.
The quick responses are very much appreciated though, thanks. -
You'll need to understand that the reason why there are two databases and why the smaller one is the default one is that most game developers want the small database, so that they don't need to delete too much when entering their own ideas for skills and states.
Because the "bigger" database can't be balanced in itself without knowing where and when what is placed on the maps, so you can't simply build your own game on it without modifying much of the database. -
@Andar The fact that the dropbox link posted above is old link format, it still stand true. Whether if the file is actually being removed from the folder or not, I don't know.
But anyway, I guess it's already sorted out.
