  1. Hi everyone! :)

Earlier this week, I had a curious bit of Chrono Trigger nostalgia when I saw RPG Maker on Steam.

I dismissed the pleasant feeling, knowing I was dutifuly saving up for Skyrim and Borderlands this November.

Today, I just bought a copy of RPG Maker.

    And a few awesome DLCs.

    And Game Character Hub.

    And Skyborn.

And, for the sake of my wallet, I never want to go back to Steam again.

At least not until Black Friday. :guffaw:

Until then, I will happily explore the wonderful and intimidating beauty that is RPG Maker.

I have a bit of programming and design experience, so I have no illusions that game devolpement is easy.

I can already feel the future stress of meeting milestones, managing resources, and minimizing caffeine overdose. :dizzy:

Nontheless, I am eager to jump right in and hopefully create a very simple, short, and sweet game by the end of the year.

    Or early next year.

    Next Summer?

Yeah, maybe for me, even that is wishful thinking.

Regardless, I'm glad there's a forum like this for brave dreamers and kindred spirits. :)

    Thanks for reading!

    Allons-y! :D
  2. Welcome, kenibatz!  I also love Chrono Trigger.

Before you leap in head first, try running through all of the tutorials (Andar has an excellent list of them) to get a handle on how to use RPG Maker.

Once you're familiar with the basics, try using the RTP standard resources to make a small game first.

It may feel like you're sitting at a huge church organ and playing Chopsticks on it, but trust me, it's far easier to grow your ambitions once you have the basics down pat.
  3. Welcome to the forum.  You'll find it a helpful place, making it so much easier to learn how to execute that neat little feature you've thought up which just needs ....
  4. Welcome to the group!

    A "Whovian" I see! :p

Thank you! I am currently watching some videos I found on YouTube. It appears to be a series and have found it very helpful.

Yes, I agree with you. I have lofty ambitions at the back of my mind, but I completely respect the learning process that RMVXA deserves. I will still with the basics for now. There's so much to explore! :)

Thank you! The forum does seem like a great place with some cool people. I will lurk about and hopefully contribute something worthwhile soon. :)

Thanks! Regretably, I'm more of a Whovian-wannabe. Dr. Who intrigues me and I know bits and pieces, but I've never been able to find time to watch the series before. Maybe I will, later this year. :)
  8. Feel free to ask questions too. Welcome!
