Creating an event

Hey, im new to RPG maker MV and I was wondering if someone could explain how switches, variables and events in general work? Want to start making a game but can't quite grasp how to make a "cutscene" if somebody could show me the basics that'd be fantastic! Thanks in advance!

Andar has a tutorial for new users. It's for Ace but the basics are the same. Also, there's a very thorough help file that comes with the program.

Look at some of the tutorials on VX ace as the methods are the same and they explain way more efficiently than I could!
