  1. hello (I don't really know where to go on this website to ask question because I just signed up) so im a kid in middle school and I been researching about making games (sorry about lying about my age in the sign up thing) and I think i'm ready to make one now but I can't draw anime and I don't know anybody who can draw anime so I wanted to use the sprites that come with rpg maker so I wanted to know if there are any copyright guidelines I need to follow and can I sell my game (there a event happening in my city where there a market where kids can sell products toys, food etc. so I want to sell my game by flash drive or get people to write there email down and I will send it to them) so or do I need to just keep it free
Im also going to either use rpg maker MV the trial version or I might save up money and buy the real one
  2. If you use trial version of MV, you're NOT allowed to share your game at all - you need full version. Full version will allow you to sell your game.
  3. Since you have the trial version, you can't share the game, free or commercial.

If you do happen to purchase the software, you will be allowed to use the default assets that come with with in commercial and non-commercial games.
  4. If money is a problem, keep a look out on steam (and maybe other places) that may offer MV at a reduced price. I suggest steam personally, but that's just me.
  5. Yeah, MV can sometimes be 50% off on steam, maybe 75% sometimes.
  6. @kid_creator123 there are copyright laws, not copyright guidelines.
And they basically say that you need a licence to use something before you can use it, you can't simply take something to use. That would always be illegal and could get you or your parents into trouble.

Some people give free licences, some licences you pay for by purchasing something (like purchasing MV gives you the licence to use the included resources), some licences you cannot gain (like the licence to use music from big company stars, those rarely sell they licences to unknowns).
You need to check that by reading the terms of use for every specific post/website/resource. If there are no terms listed, then you can't use them - and if a website doesn't have proper terms but simply say "do whatever you like" on a massive list then most likely you found a pirate site and can't use anything of it legally.

Here on this forum you'll find a lot of resources that are free for non-commercial work as soon as you purchase the maker, a lot of them are even free for commercial work. The webshop attached to this website offers cheap licences for commercial use of other resources (and yes, the prices in the shop are cheap compared to what you have to pay for similiar packages on other websites or when commissioning an artist to work for you)

thank you for telling me this since i'm a kid I don't have a job to get money the only way I get money is through chores but I made my parents a deal if they bought me RPG maker MV I would sell my game (it not gonna be finished though because it doesn't just take two weeks to make a full game so it will just be a demo so I would of got them to write there email down on a piece of paper and once it finish send it to them) at the market and get enough money to pay them back

I have one more question that is all! I was messing with the trial of RPG MAKER MV so I could get use to everything and I got to this part where my character wouldn't move I followed the tutorial but my character won't move so is there anything I can do so the player is able to move ( sorry if my vocabulary isn't that good I have a c- in Language Arts)
  9. There are two causes for that. However, the question is completely unrelated to this thread, so you need to open a new thread in the appropriate forum (MV Support) and ask for help.

If this question has been answered sufficiently, just report your first post and ask for the mods to close the thread.
