Hello, I was wondering:
I'm making a game with RMVXA, but almost all my friends have Macbooks. So, are RMVXA games compatible with a Mac OS?
If not, then is there any way to make them compatible? Thank you! :)

Assuming Darwine is not outdated to its intended purpose, you should check out Darwine. If it allows and is updated to a version at least two or three away similar to WINE, then setting it up to run on Mac shouldn't be an issue since with WINE it is capable to run RMVX/ACE. Again, I'm not 100% sure as I don't own a Mac. However, I heard it is possible to do and have seen some videos where they have it running. :)
Otherwise, the people would have to have Windows installed as well or use Fusion. -
Anything RPG Maker related isn't Mac compatible.
I've seen people have some success with an application called CrossOver. http://www.codeweavers.com/products/
If I remember correctly, last time I used the application it was very straight forward and simple. Also it has a trial so you can test and see if it works with RPG Maker games.
Personal recommendation would be to just install Windows on the Mac. This can be done through Boot Camp (comes with every Mac 10.5 or later), Parallels, VMWare Fusion, or Virtual Box. Boot Camp requires them to restart the Mac while the others allow them to run Windows at the same time as Mac OS X. The best option would be through Parallels, VMWare Fusion, or Virtual Box as they won't have to reboot to run your game.
I work on Apple computers for a living so if you have any questions feel free to respond or send me a pm. -
That would require them to purchase Windows, which I'm assuming is not possible for his friends. Unless I'm wrong when I say that...?
When I mentioned videos of it earlier, I found
, though it is dated a bit. Besides Windows as an option if Darwine doesn't work for them, you could always ask them if they are willing to install Ubuntu (free alternative to Windows, easy to set up and is powerful) as a dual boot or install on the same HDD (Runs side by side, but this way you can uninstall it like its a program). With Ubuntu on, they would be able to use RMVX/ACE.Though the same issue of having to reboot the computer into Ubuntu exists... :p -
Thanks! :) They don't want to do any of that, so unless they have a PC they won't be able to play the game. But thanks anyway! :)
