@alu4077 I attempted the photopea trick and it worked... mostly. I tried adding it to Shora's lighting and it looked ok, but weird [if that makes sense]. Then I started messing around with the lighting system so more and it was starting to produce some good [not perfect] results... until I broke it and I don't know how so I couldn't undo it. :dizzy:
I'm going to shelf this for now... I'm a little burnt out from messing with all these systems.
If you find a good system that produces great results then let me know. I'll keep messing with the ones I have and I'll let you know if I manage the same.
And, if there are any of the developers [ @ImaginaryVillain, @Aesica, etc.] that were working on this plugin still around, can we maybe get a rework of the plugin? Hopefully to the point that the lag and performance problem [that randomly appears] will be a thing of the past.

And to implement the fix on line 335 for the MZ version so the player flashlight can change widths.

I'm glad you were getting results! But well, I hope you can fix that. If I find something better I'll keep you updated.@alu4077 I attempted the photopea trick and it worked... mostly. Also I hope that someone can fix Community_Lightning, I would use it again. -
Well, I have thoroughly broken the Shora script and I have no idea how I did it. It won't even work properly in a fresh game... ugh... I guess I'll try another plugin for now. Or go back to the "To-Do" list I have for my game, it's sizable let me tell you.

Man, you should start to make some backups. Probably would save you some time.Well, I have thoroughly broken the Shora script and I have no idea how I did it. The thing is... I didn't even mess with the script itself. I just used the plugin commands and such. I think it might be interacting with another plugin, but it wasn't working in a fresh game either... :dizzy:Man, you should start to make some backups. Probably would save you some time.
I don't know... Either way, I'm working on the game now and even thinking of making a tutorial about a part of the game that I think turned out well.
I have the community Lighting plugin turned off for the moment and I placed an option in the Options screen to turn it off if needed in my game so there's that when I release. But since I have turned it off so I can work on the mechanics and details, I'm hoping that something changes for this excellent plugin sometime in the near future.. -
This is very weird. Maybe messing up with parameters is causing bugs? I've never seen something like this. The thing is... I didn't even mess with the script itself. However, could you please tell me what are your performance problems with Community_lightning? I'm having some problems with LNM's plugins (long story), so I'm testing community_lightning again and my problems are gone somehow. After deploying the game somehow it just isn't lagging anymore. I solved my problem removing some other buggy plugins (but I did this before even using Community_lightning again). I don't know why, but in the editor it still lags sometimes, but after deploying, as I said, it's working just fine. -
*edit* Nevermind. I had asked a question here, but I figured it out on my own. I switched from Shora lighting to this plugin and forgot to delete a script call for that plugin so the game kept crashing. I deleted that and it works now! I would delete this post, but it wont let me.

It lags at random times.... Sometimes out of the gate when I start a game from a save. Sometimes when I get out of the menu. Sometimes when I get out of an event [cutscene].This is very weird. Maybe messing up with parameters is causing bugs? I've never seen something like this.

Random framerate drop where my character will walk slowly. When my character is walking slowly usually the dash helps mitigate the slowness. Once it starts.... it seems to persist through all the maps with lighting whether they lagged before or not.
Like I said it's random and inconsistent... except lately it's been happening more often. Usually on the big maps. Maybe that's the reason? I've cut down on the lights on those maps but that doesn't seem to help too much....
Maybe deploying the game and trying it out, like you, will help. If I knew it would be like that I could handle the lag for the time being until I'm ready to deploy. -
Man, this is really bizarre tbh. I get the lags almost on the same way, but mostly when i close the menu or save the game. Disabling the lights stop it tho. The biggest problem is: I tested the game on an old processor (I7 from third or fourth generation idk exactly) and it was naturally on 40fps (mine is 60fps and my processor isn't even that good, it's just not much old). I messed something up.It lags at random times.... Sometimes out of the gate when I start a game from a save. Sometimes when I get out of the menu. Sometimes when I get out of an event [cutscene].

But as for the community_lightning lag, deploy the game, test it and tell me the results please, if it work for you too maybe I'll return to use it. -
Is there a way to change the time of the day via a variable?
-
How do I turn off additional light circle around an event when the flashlight is activated? I can't seem to figure it out.
-
I should apologize to all those with questions, as the original contributors (including myself) have largely abandoned this ever since one other contributor refactored all the code into an unrecognizable format. While he did make some great improvements, he also made the code largely unrecognizable so we mostly just...kinda gave up on it.

@Aesica Is there anything that can be done to restore the original path of the project?
Do you have a copy of the last legible version, and a log of what was changed, so someone could try to add the new features back without altering the rest of the code that badly? -
On my PC is a partially-restored version that I might finish if I ever get motivated enough, but I've been working on other things *very slowly* so it's been back-burner. In fairness, it's not completely illegible and his changes to the plugin's features were legit good (the soft lighting is awesome) but it's a turn-off when somebody comes along and just reformats the whole thing.@Aesica Is there anything that can be done to restore the original path of the project?

Plus, I'm not sure but I think @ImaginaryVillain moved on from RPGMaker and he's the one who manages the github. So the whole thing's in limbo right now. -
Soft Lighting? Yeah, that's absolutely not a good team player move.it's a turn-off when somebody comes along and just reformats the whole thing.

I really just swing by occasionally, chat with people then leave. UE's only true love now. If you would like the project, start another thread. I'll link to it in the first post and have them close out this thread, then you can do with it as you will. Might as well let the project continue. :LZSwink::thumbsup-right:On my PC is a partially-restored version that I might finish if I ever get motivated enough, but I've been working on other things *very slowly* so it's been back-burner. Hi,
Sorry to show up as I saw you just wanted to close this thread.
A little question as I'm not very familiar with coding myself, but if you close the thread, well, it's fine ^^
I enjoy the Night&Day effect and wanted to know if there was a script to use in a conditional branch, to know what time it is for the player? So you can say: sleep until morning if it's night, or stay awake if it's during the day, and lots more.
Anyway thank you for the great plugin and sorry for just asking today about that. -
Aah good to know you're doing well. Yeah I should probably take it over then. Before I make any new threads though I should probably get around to cleaning it up a bit and otherwise update it so that it's worth downloading. Otherwise, the version that exists in this thread is fine enough. I'll let you know when that is, but I can be a bit slow to update things especially lately. :DI really just swing by occasionally, chat with people then leave. UE's only true love now. Yeah that's the one.Soft Lighting? Is that like the Smooth Lights that's in the most recent stable version?
Definitely not, but in a sense, I don't *entirely* fault him for it. As most know, it was built on the old Terrax plugin, but Terrax's code was...interesting, to say the least. The whole plugin is a giant plate of spaghetti, but before the changes, it was *known* spaghetti, if that makes sense. :DYeah, that's absolutely not a good team player move.
