  1. I haven't really looked at RPG Maker since RPG Maker 2003, but I don't quite have enough time to devote to Unity3D or XNA; So, I though I would try to revisit and contribute here.

Until Christmas, I will be dropping by frequently - so feel free to say hello and start up conversation.

I haven't really looked into RUBY/RGSS development much, but am excited to learn.

Any advice for resources are welcome.
  2. Welcome back.

Advice for resources is difficult to give in the abstract because there are so many, and it depends if you want to make a game that's fantasy, or modern, or sci-fi or.....

When hunting for resources it is always best to start with GrandmaDeb's Lists.  Here is the directory for resources on this site.  For resources elsewhere, open the spoiler in her signature (opening post) for links to other lists.

Another great place to start is REStaff Resource releases here

The only other thing I'd mention is this thread which discusses resource management.  Lots of useful ideas there.

    Hope this helps.
  3. Thank you for the asset lists - far more available than I know what to do with;  glad to see that the community is active enough to produce so much content.

Also, I was more curious about Ruby/RGSS learning resources.  It seems that a lot of features in Ruby weren't included in RGSS3 and I'm having a tough time finding/documenting these discrepancies.  For example, String.encode exists and works in RGSS - unless you include the optional parameter ":xml => :text" (The Encoding for xml_text cannot be found).
  4. There is a section of the forum devoted to learning RGSS3 which I'm sure has many resources. Not on my computer so can't give a link but it shows up clearly on the main Forums page.
  5. welcome

the community is active as hell, hard to keep up even in this forum and there are like 3 or so other big sites dedicated to the rpg maker.

So never a shortage on content (regadless if it's resources or games).
  6. Indeed. Welcome. I'm quite surprised by the number of helpful members here as well.
