Comic Bubble Dialogue Text

  1. My request isn't terribly complicated: I would like a plugin that modifies message windows, similar to a script that existed for Ace:

-Aesthetically, it would make message windows look like the dialogue bubbles from a comic book:

    bubbletalk.jpg

-I would like for the script to be activated by a command in the text field, as the previous script did, which indicated that you wanted to use a dialogue bubble, specified the event number from which the message bubble would emerge (I can't rememberr well, but it was something similar to c[event number] or something like that)

-It isn't a default override for all message windows, it would have to be activated as I described it above.

I believe that the system I was thinking of was Yami's Pop Message. That particular script in question is https://yamiworld.wordpress.com/yami-engine/text-display/pop-message/

If someone can make an MV adaptation of this, I would be incredibly grateful, especially if they could intensify the comic book speech bubble look.

The ability to have the portrait or to leave it out would be nice as well!
  2. I'd be very interested in this as well.  I always used a comic bubble script for my XP stories.  If you could specify a skin to use for making the comic bubble as well, that would be good so that we could make the bubble look like a thought bubble or an angry speech bubble instead of just a speech bubble.  It would give it some customization.  Thanks.
  3. I'm looking for something that handles a little more.  For instance look at this video, I did of a game I was working on in Adventure Game Studio.  The speech bubbles change size based on the text.  The shape and look of the bubble are defined similarly to the Window skin files.
  4. Having to do this from a command call is rather problematic. Using the window and windowskin itself would preferable, since using a background image for the window would be a pain in the ass- having to come up with all different kinds of variable sizes for speech bubbles. While your plugin appears to do what is needed... it doesn't, really, I'm afraid to say.
  5. I did give the plugin a try, just to verify- as I feared, it really doesn't do what I need it to do. It does need to hook into "show text" for several reasons, not the least of which being the ability to keep the player static while a dialogue is going on.  Having to control fade, size, custom balloon image sizes for each moment of the dialog is just too much of a pain and makes even the simplest conversation into a needlessly over-complicated ordeal.

HOWEVER, On the positive side, it does work quite beautifully for reading signs and other elements that are not crucial to dialogue, so I thank you very much for bringing this plugin to my attention! It may not be what I was looking for, but there is definitely some cool applications for it in other areas.
  6. Whoa! Why the search didn't show me this topic before!

I've requested a port of Multiple Messages Window script of RMXP, but so far anyone replied me. Now i think i nailed why.

I talked with the script creator in its github, but he says will not update because its so easy to develop ¬¬.

I liked that system because it keeps the original window too.

I was actually working on something that might be of interest. Just finished it up and releasing it:

WHOA @Galv! A very nice implementation!

I only will leave my topic open because someone can want to port the exacly system i requested (because the other variables, types of sppech bubbles, etc and etc), but yours is already very nice!

    Thank you!
  8. This plugin is amazing!! It was exactly what I wanted.  However I do have one concern about it, and that is the use of color codes:

    For example:

I created a treasure chest with the following show text command:

    \pop[0]\c[5]\n[1] \c[0]obtained \c[5]HP Drink \c[0]x 100

Which gave me the following (in preview)

    preview1.png

And this is fine, but in game, I get this:

    screen1.png

While there doesn't seem to be an immediate issue with this, here is a button containing the following text code:

    \pop[0]\c[3]\n[1]\c[0]
    ▌\n[1] pressed the button▐

    With this as the preview:

    preview2.png

    Here it is in game:

    screen2.png

The issue here is that it seems the more text codes you use, the more "white space" is added to the pop window, which makes the speech window look bloated with unneeded space.  Is there a way to fix this so that the text window does not add this extra space?
  9. @Galv
i really like your bubble style plugin but there is no faceset Support . is there a way to handle this?

This thread has had no activity for nearly a year.
In addition you have hi-jacked it with a query which is unrelated to the one asked by the OP. Please start a new thread in Plugin Requests, setting out exactly what you would like, and providing a link to the web page where you got the plugin. That way, if anyone needs to check something in order to help you, they don't have to go hunting.
