From what I understand, this is a common issue with the RPGMaker VX Ace program. Basically what happens is, when you boot up the program, you instantly get a message that says that the CoGen DRM has failed to initialize. I've been browsing around the web trying to find a simple solution, but have not had any luck. Some solutions revolve around uninstalling everything RPGMaker then clear your registry then something about windows assembly and... what? A lot of confusing information for people who are a bit less computer savvy. Another solution revolved around installing RPGMaker XP and then copying that cogendrm.dll into your RPGMaker VX Ace folder. Well that would be all nice and dandy... but upon installing RPGMaker XP, I discovered that there was no such cogendrm.dll file to be found. So I'm truley at a loss here. If there is any solid solution, I would like to know.

Is this an old download? Or have you downloaded from the website directly just recently?

I bought and downloaded it from the site just today. Is this an old download? Or have you downloaded from the website directly just recently?
[EDIT] Idk if this matters or not but the download link was sent from the site via email.
[EDIT 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO]
Here's a screenshot of the thing but considering how common the issue appears to be you've probably seen tons of this.

Can you provide a link to the page you downloaded from? The programs currently on the site don't use CoGen DRM. So you are either downloading an old version (which is why I'd like to see thelink), or you're downloading a new version but when you go to install, you're running an old version you've previously downloaded.

This is where I got it from. -
And when you dowload does it come up to install straight away? Do you have any old versions on your computer? If so, I suggest uninstalling them. Do you have multiple versions of the downloaded program? I suggest deleting them all and keeping the most recent one, only to make absolutely certain you're running the latest installer.
CoGen DRM hasn't been used for a few months now. -
Hmmm... Just a while ago I had the trial version of RPGMaker VX Ace, however that has been fully uninstalled, and all files backed up on a seperate storage device. The trial was downloaded about a week ago from this site, so I assume it was the most recent version. Upon installing, CoGen DRM was in the RPGMaker VX Ace program folders, though if it is the most recent version, it should not, as you have said, have CoGen DRM.And when you dowload does it come up to install straight away? Can you do a full clean uninstall of RPG Maker VXAce, including registry wipe and try again downloading from the site? That is really odd since our DRM is completely different now.
I'm not sure what program to suggest. -
How would I go about redownloading the program without repurchasing it?Can you do a full clean uninstall of RPG Maker VXAce and try again downloading from the site? That is really odd since our DRM is completely different now.

You can download the trial from this link. It's a trial of the full program, and entering the CD key you purchased will get rid of the timed part. :)

Thank you very much. I'll see if this works out. I'm tired of all these clacking Metal Gears befumbling with this riscle slowers technology, you know? You can download the trial from this link. It's a trial of the full program, and entering the CD key you purchased will get rid of the timed part. :)
[EDIT: REVENGEANCE]
Yeah, it's working fine and dandy now. I appreciate how quick the issue was solved and I applaud your competence. Conglaturations a winner is you~ -
Glad to know you got it working :D
