Is that a possibility? I've been a registered user for 4 years. I am not very active and aside from perusing the boards sometimes offering tidbits of help, I am primarily here for plugins and scripting support, not chatting and sharing ideas. Is there any way to circumvent the 30 post limit to enter the commissions section, or should I just look elsewhere? Will a mod do that for me based on tenure, or is that only for active members of the community?
Circumventing the post minimum for commission boards

Help bumping this for visibility. Although, I doubt if they will make an exception. Unless maybe if you really an exceptional yourself, but can't be sure. I believe the idea of limiting the access is because the subforum means for the community. Like, you need to be a part of us. There's a whole thread explaining why if you haven't read yet (can't link the thread atm).

@Archeia and @Ms Littlefish would be the people to ask.
Although the 30 post requirement is so we can get to see who you are. Lurking, for any length of time, doesn't tell us that.
Are you planning to offer commissions or request them? If offering, you could make a few posts showing what you're capable of doing - that could weigh things in your favour. -
That's pretty tough since part of the reason the 30 post rule is there is to avoid scams in general. There had been too many cases.
-
This is a situation we've found tricky at times but because a major component (among others) of the rule change was to make the classifieds sections focused on active and engaged community members we've not made exceptions for this reason.

It shouldn't be too difficult to maybe post things like advice to would-be developers, or screenshots, samples of your work from time to time, or even congratulating other developers (like in the screenshots or monthly progress threads) to get to the 30 post requirement. My thought is, if you're not going to be involved enough in the community, then perhaps you shouldn't expect us to pay for your services? I dunno.
My guess is that is why the requirement hasn't been waived over the past while. -
I will attempt to be more active within the forums, these are logical reasons behind not allowing people to simply join up and begin handling money online, which is already a grey area. Furthermore it would be me hiring out, reinforcing this logic that it would be easier to scam as an unknown person.
That being said, it's posts like the last one in this thread that render me a bit of an outlier in terms of the social aspect of forums. I don't see a benefit in unwarranted opinions, and don't want to elicit any uneducated advice based on my own assumptions, but that's all forum posting seems to be to me. But... You are right that at the very least, I can congratulate, and attempt to help if somebody is in a predicament I myself have been stuck in... I guess this is what forum posting is all about..! xD
So.. I will, not only in response to this thread, but overall, attempt to engage myself within the community more, as well as drop my cynic views on forum posting in it's entirety. I've been looting from GrandmaDeb for years, sulking and lurking beneath the veil of necessity... I guess I should lighten up and just chat about theories and logic every once in a while ^_^;
Thank you all very much for responding. This is certainly incentive to continue with the community as a whole and using RPG Maker at all. -
Honestly, if people post asking for advice or opinions, and you think you have something that might help them (even if you don't expect them to go with your idea), go ahead and post it - you might say something that nobody else has said yet, and a variety of feedback gives the requester more to think about, and gives other people a different point of view too. That's what forum posting is all about :)

There's always the Intro forums. Introduce yourself to us. Tell us about what you're working on and why you're here. Talk to some of the people who welcome you.
New people join almost every day and introduce themselves here. Welcome them in return. You'll get the required posts in no time and maybe even meet some interesting people.

Iirc, intro forum doesn't count up your post count.

How about game threads? Play a few games under games in development, or look over some project ideas under ideas and prototypes and offer some suggestions for improvement. That is a pretty easy way to get involved, and you just might just get to play a few fun games in the meantime.

Nope. But it's still a good way to step in and feel a bit more comfortable for some who may be hesitant to post. -

Didn't know that.
