  1. Hello there! I've recently gotten some busts for my characters and i was wondering how big or small should they be? Any help on this is greatly appreciated!
  2. As big as you would like them, depends how you're using them, what resolution you're using, etc.

I'm using the default MV resolution, and thats just the problem, I dont know how big I want them. Bigger than the normal faceset but not taking up all of the screen.
  4. Try a size, test it, see if it looks nice to you. If yes, then use that size, else try another size and repeat. There is no magic number here, it all depends on your own liking (or your players but its hard to decide without actual samples)
  5. If you set up an early project feedback thread, post some pictures in there -- then people will be able to see what they're commenting on :)

This type of thing can be subjective though, but it goes without saying that you don't want your bust pics to intrude too much upon the action going on within the game.

If it's still really early development, then don't worry too much - things might change a whole lot before you get to a release date.
  6. I find when using busts taking up approx 2/3's of the screen to work well (also counting text box if present).
Of course this is totally a personal preference and you should just keep at it until you are satisfied

@Engr. Adiktuzmiko Though there isn't an exact number to it there is a little trick that might be helpful based on how human perception and the human brain works ; When looking at an image/text/etc. it is easier for people to register what is on the lower part then what is above it, so putting a character higher up will make it easier for most people to see the whole character as when someone needs to look down at it however it should never be so high as to force the person watching to really raise their head  As busts tend to end low on the screen by most people who use them this can have an impact on the size desired

Of course that being said, it's all up to the individual IMO :D
  7. Okay I've found a size I Iike now but I'm having a problem where the white-gray checkerboard pattern appears in-game. How do I fix this?

  8. You need to use an editing program to delete the background and leave it transparent. :) most editors can, I use GIMP
  9. Save as a PNG with transparency. And then, even with those settings, you still need to still make sure you turned off any background layers you have under your main sprite.
