Changes to Projects Section

  1. Hi all! We have some changes coming to the Projects section of the forums that we wanted to let you know about in advance.

To make things simpler, we are combining the Early Project Feedback and Project Development forums into one – Games in Development. Hopefully this will reduce some of the guesswork in trying to figure which one your topic should go in. All existing threads in either of these forums will be moved to the new Games in Development.

In addition, we’ve taken note of need in the community and will be introducing an Ideas and Prototypes forum. We find that people are often wanting project-specific feedback before they have quite gotten started in the development process and this will be the place to find that! However, there will be some requirements in order to prevent floods of threads consisting of a sentence or two. Your idea will need to have some substance to be approved. These requirements will be detailed in the Rules/Guidelines when the forum is created.

The last change is that we will be closing the Features Feedback thread found in Game Mechanics Design and the Plot and Character Feedback in General Discussion. In their places, we will have a thread in the new Ideas and Prototypes section, “Ideas That Don’t Deserve Their Own Thread”, where you can get feedback on “smaller” things – one character, a single mechanic, a small plot point, etc.

In summary the breakdown for these sections is:

Ideas That Don’t Deserve Their Own Thread – Post here if you have a small element you want feedback on – a “singular” idea, if you will.

Ideas and Prototypes – Post here if you have begun fleshing out ideas for plot, characters and mechanics and want feedback on how it will be received. You must be able to meet the requirements for posting in this section or your post will not be approved.

Games In Development – Post here if you are past the “ideas” stage and have started work on your game. You must be able to meet the requirements for posting in this section or your post will be moved to Ideas and Prototypes, if it meets those requirements.

Completed Games – This section will remain the same, and obviously, is for games that are considered finished.
  2. I'm really looking forward to these changes! I think it will really help motivate people to continue working on their projects if they can get feedback when it's in those messy, half-baked baby stages.
  3. That's a good move. I always thought 'Early Project Feedback' and 'Project Development' seemed too similar and could be combined into one subforum, so I always tended to skip the former one.
  4. Ooohh, this is a good call! :kaojoy:
  5. ( =^o^=)~ CAIT'S SEAL OF APPROVAL! Yeah, I agree that things should be simplified.. :kaoslp: Well, I take a brief nap and wake up to pretty good news. It will be easier to figure out where to put your project, because when I posted mine originally I couldn't figure out where to put it. :kaojoy:
  6. This is a really good change
  7. Ooooh thanks I once had to PM a mod to wonder if I could do a pool over which ones of my idea concepts were more worthy to work first. I seriously didn't have a clue where to post some of my stuff.

This will greatly help in my case! (That is once I tamed the pangofly dragon. :p )

    ADDENDUM
I rushed to try and find those treads and was taken aback not finding them. Finally I might need them more than I thought. :3
  8. I consider all of these ideas absolute improvements. Good call.
  9. Good stuff! I hope for these changes to take effect soon!:kaojoy:
  10. Glad you guys are as excited about these changes as we are! We're working out the details, so hopefully it will happen soon!
  11. Thank-you @mlogan
  12. Great. So I'll hold on a little, was thinking to finally make an early project thread soon.
  13. Love the idea! Any idea when the forum will be updated? :kaojoy:
  14. Unfortunately not. I was hoping it would have been done already.
  15. So we have to be patient. But it would be a great change, since it would allow people to explore their ideas easier due to early feedback without the need of actual in-game footage etc.
  16. This is excellent. :)
  17. And it's done! (Yay Archeia!) So I'm gonna close this thread up.
