Before I pay $30.00 for her beautiful resource pack, I was hoping someone could answer a few questions about it before I did.
1. Is the scripting in it relatively easy to understand?
2. Is anyone able to show me some screen shots of their own projects they have used this in?
3. Would a Harvest Moon type game be possible with this Resource Pack? (I'm sure it would be, but I just wanted to double check)
4. Have there been any issues anyone has ran into with the pack that I should be aware of to be ready to fix when/if I got it?
5. Is it compatible for RMVX:ACE or just RMVX?
6. Anyone able to point me towards any tutorials if none comes with the download so as to understand how to use the scripts and all to their fullest?
I know Celianna's sickeningly good at what she does and all, but before one throws out $30, one generally likes to ask a few questions (at least, this 'one' does anyways). : shrug :
Thank you kindly in advance for any answers that can be given and sorry if some of the questions seem a little silly (and no offense at all meant by any of them Celianna). :)

Oh, thank you... Didn't even see this as an option! :)I've moved this thread to Product Discussion and Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

If you also do a site-wide search for Rural Tiles you will find a number of existing threads that could answer some of your questions. I found 8 (threads) though a couple might be in areas you don't have access to (like Member+).

I apologize, but when I performed the search, I got nothing... I attempted Farm, Rural, Rural Tiles, etc. and still nothing was found.

1. Is the scripting in it relatively easy to understand?
Don't know, sorry.
2. Is anyone able to show me some screen shots of their own projects they have used this in?
I'll do you one better. Here's a link to a finished game made with this pack.
3. Would a Harvest Moon type game be possible with this Resource Pack? (I'm sure it would be, but I just wanted to double check)
Yes, but I there isn't an included farming script so you'd have to make or get one or on your own. Or make the farming system with events.
4. Have there been any issues anyone has ran into with the pack that I should be aware of to be ready to fix when/if I got it?
I don't think so. Everything I noticed got fixed before it was released and it was only the demo game, not a problem with tiles.
5. Is it compatible for RMVX:ACE or just RMVX?
I'm pretty sure it's made to work with Ace. Tiles made to work with VX work just fine in Ace anyway.
6. Anyone able to point me towards any tutorials if none comes with the download so as to understand how to use the scripts and all to their fullest?
It comes with a demo project, that's better than a tutorial. -
1) The sample systems were evented.
2) Haven't tried making one yet (though the screenies on the store page should suffice actually)
3) Yes
4)
5) Yes -
I appreciate all the answers and especially the link to the created game using the resources! Will look at that game closely and try it out when I can. :)

I think that the script (a HUD script) that comes with it is easy to understand and use. And the events in the sample game are well done to give you an idea on where to start with eventing a farming system (though it took me a while to get mine working how I want it, and it's still has one issue, though I think I know how to fix it).

If you just typed it into the search bar at the top of THIS screen, it's only going to search in THIS thread. You need to click the little "gear" beside it to go to the advanced search. Then type in Rural Tiles, select Titles Only from the drop-down list (so you will only get threads ABOUT the rural tiles, and not every thread where they're mentioned in passing).
I can't do the search for you and give you a link - last time I tried that, it just opened up the search screen with nothing preset. -
1. Is the scripting in it relatively easy to understand?
- there is only one script in it and you can find it in the included sample game. It is really easy to understand, there is a detailed instruction at the top of the script. The script manages the displayed hud, meaning it shows with pictures the time and the equipped tool.
2. Is anyone able to show me some screen shots of their own projects they have used this in?
- I think there are already a lot of examples in the trailer, you could also google image search after rpg maker rural farm
3. Would a Harvest Moon type game be possible with this Resource Pack? (I'm sure it would be, but I just wanted to double check)
- The graphical resources definitely allow this, you have crops, bees, chickens, pigs, cows, cheesemaker, jammaker, forge and you have a girl and boy main figure with animations for axe, hammer, hoe, watering can, pickaxe, shovel, sickle, fishing rod. Also for all the tools and products are icons available. In the sample game you have common events for a time system (with screen tinting for day/night), showing stamina, equipping tools, loosing stamina when using tools, fish, till soil and plant seeds.
But more complicated things like forging a better tool, growing plants, harvesting crops, making cheese/yams, feeding the animals, setting up when they give you milk or eggs, mining ore, dating/friendship system etc. you have to do yourself. There are already a lot of tutorials about this, but you have to be willing to put time in this and work a bit with common events. However the sample game gives you a great starting point.
Also, I think, the resources are fairly easy to edit/recolor because it is pixel art and it has very clear lines.
4. Have there been any issues anyone has ran into with the pack that I should be aware of to be ready to fix when/if I got it?
- The only thing I can think of, is that the stairs don't align very well with the cliffs or at least the way I use it. But that is easily fixed with cutting one stair in half for an end piece.
5. Is it compatible for RMVX:ACE or just RMVX?
- I think so.
6. Anyone able to point me towards any tutorials if none comes with the download so as to understand how to use the scripts and all to their fullest?
- Really take a close look at the sample game, it does an amazing job. There is also an instruction pdf file, that explains a lot of the resources.
A good tutorial for farming: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/18377-simple-farming-system/ or here: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/26353-make-a-harvest-moon-game/ -
Ah, no, it's not pixel art. Not even the sprites, unlike most sprites made for RM.Also, I think, the resources are fairly easy to edit/recolor because it is pixel art and it has very clear lines.
-
yeah, the resources are made in a distinct painted style.

Okay, sorry for the misinformation then, I just thought because it has those very clear outlines, pixel for pixel, it would fall under this category. You can certainly make small edits or recolors just with pixel art (and with the help of semi-transparent pixels), that's how I edit the rural set and that's why I thought, it would be relatively easy to edit for beginners. I'm not saying it is easy to make something in this style from scratch, because I certainly recognize the amount of work this set must have took.

I haven't done much editing to it, but what I have done was easy enough. So that is (possibly) true whether it falls into "pixel art" or not.Okay, sorry for the misinformation then, I just thought because it has those very clear outlines, pixel for pixel, it would fall under this category. It does have some hard pixel perfect edges, so I totally understand why you thought that. Glad to know that the easy to edit stuff is true, I'd never tested that myself.

It's a great set and I agree with the answers already provided I just wanted to add an FYI type tidbit that it does not have baby/toddler or child sprites so if you want your Harvest Moon type game to have children it's something you'll have to add eventually. I'm casually working on something similar, not quite Harvest Moon - but it's working great so far!
