On the event edit screen, I used to be able to preview a section of highlighted text. When I press the "test" button, it would take me to a black screen that shows me the text, how it fits in the window, and how it flows. Some tragedy happened today; a few minutes after I finished a session of working on my game, my laptop got unplugged. My laptop's battery is dead, so it has to stay hooked up to the wall 24/7, as it can't go a second without being unplugged. To my horror, I found my database corrupted when I returned to work on my game a while later. Lucky for me, I had backed up my project recently, so I didn't lose terribly much.
Anyway, I am using the Steam version of RPG Maker MV. When I turned my laptop back on after it had been unplugged, Steam was telling me I had to reinstall the program. I waited about 10ish minutes for everything to get up and running again. However, when I test a selected section of text in the event editor, I am not taken to the black screen that shows me the text. Instead, I am taken to the main menu of my game as though I had hit the play test button from the main screen of the program.
This issue isn't the end of the world for me, but it is certainly a great inconvenience. I don't even know where to start looking to diagnose the problem, so I was wondering if anyone here knew what was up.

Update: I just found out I cannot open the debugger screen (the screen that lets you manually turn on switches) while doing a regular play test either.

as to the first option: you now have 1.6.1 editor, which requires the project to be updated to 1.6.1 as well before the tests will work again.
your choice is to either update your project or to downgrade the editor (beta-tab on steam program properties) for the tests to work again.
