I'm currently trying to start a new project in VX Ace, but I'm coming across two different problems. The first one is that when I try to open an already established project from it's folder, it opens up an entirely different project. I've managed to bypass this by simply opening the project from within VX Ace itself. However, when I click the button to start a new project, VX Ace freezes. My desktop is still fairly new, custom built, so I don't think it's freezing because of a computer issue, but I'm not sure how to fix this. Does anyone have any advice? I have VX Ace via Steam, so I'm not sure if perhaps that's related to it. I didn't have this problem before getting it on Steam, that I recall.

This is the first time I've heard of those particular problems... I've used the VX Ace trial without Steam, and both the Lite and full versions through it no problem too.
So, to make sure I'm understanding this correctly...
- Opening a project by clicking the Game.rvproj2 file in it's folder opens a different project while opening it through VX Ace itself opens the right project?
- Attempting to start a new project causes VX Ace to freeze completely?
- Is it a temporary freeze("Not Responding" for a few seconds to a minute or so then starts responding again)?
- Or a permanent freeze("Not Responding" until you force the program to close and reopen it)?
-
1. Correct. When opening the project from its folder, it opens a different project, whatever ones I've opened recently, it seems to be.
2. Completely freezes up. It does not respond at all. I end up closing the program, and when I open it I'm back to whatever project I already had open. -
The only things I can think of is an error in the program itself or a virus, but I don't know for sure.
Personally I would start with a virus scan and if that didn't help try deleting RPG Maker VX Ace (on my system it is at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RPGVXAce) then re-download/install it and see if that cleared it up.
If those failed...I'm out of ideas. Sorry. -
I re-installed VX Ace and it still freezes when I try to create a new game. I decided to copy/paste another project and just edit that into a new game. However, I still hope that this can be fixed somehow.

I managed to get the program to create a new game. I ended up finding an error called AppHangB1. I looked into it and it may have been related to some sort of virus or a code error in the Operating System. I ran a virus check, fixed some errors, and now it's able create a new game.

Glad to hear its working! ^_^

1. Correct. When opening the project from its folder, it opens a different project, whatever ones I've opened recently, it seems to be.Wrong, that is because the Steam launch System uses a different method than the windows launch. The only things I can think of is an error in the program itself or a virus, but I don't know for sure.
If you have the Steam version, any launch of the editor will always open the last project edited before, you will never be able to open a project by doubleclicking its project file. (that steam-quirk has beed discussed in this forum before, there is nothing that can be done to change that)
Just open the editor any way you want, and if you want to work on a different project open it from the editor - no way around that if you're using the steam version.
The delay in creating a new project is something I've seen in the last week or so myself, I have about 20 sekonds delay before the new project window opens - and most probably that is due to steam cloud synchronisation (when I opened the manage projects instead, wich also had a delay, one of the workshop projects was usually listed as "downloading/updating"). -
I use the Steam version and it always lets me open them from the project folder without that occurring though. If you have the Steam version, any launch of the editor will always open the last project edited before, you will never be able to open a project by doubleclicking its project file.
