Can I use Ace without Steam?

  1. Steam doesn't even launch I get this nice error

Translated should be  "exception unknow software exception (0xc000001d) occurred in the application at location 0x100022b9"

I got this same error on other games from steam like unturned and some other software for 2d games I don't remember, but since the latest steam update I got it directly on the launcher.

I tried to reinstall Steam but it solved nothing, I only got everything associated with Steam deleted from my computer, which is bad.

So I have to ask this is there anyway to make this software reinstall and work without Steam?

It doesn't really matter if it's not possible as I can just do new tilesets and sprites in the meantime.

Probably Steam will start to work again once I get this old toaster of mine updated, but knowing my brother it will take a long time *looks at the broken wire of a dusty I-droi01*

But I really wanted to start doing battle sheets and without the programm to test them out that's going to be problem....

Also why doesn't lite open up the project I was working on? It was kind of annoying to recreate the whole Heavenly Host again...but it did come out better so I shouldn't be complaning...
  2. If you have only the steam version, then no, you need to start steam at least once to validate and put steam into offline-mode before you can start Ace without it - and even that might be impossible depending on the problem you have with steam. From your description it sounds as if either part of your windows functions got damaged, or one of your antivirus/background programs now blocks steam from running.

Ace Lite has limited object data, and to prevent it from circumventing those limits it cannot open projects that were created by the full version.

However, if you haven't used up your trial yet, you can install the Ace trial and work with it for 30 days - you just have to point it to the place where your projects are saved by the steam version if it doesn't find those automatically.
  3. Thank you for answering, I have already used the Ace trial so I guess I will wait for my brother to upgrade the computer and keep working on tilesets in the meantime, I still need to make a bunch of those.
