Can an entire Project be moved from one version of RMMV to another?

  1. I'm presently using the trial version, which is non-Steam based, and I intend to eventually buy the Steam version. Although I'm extremely green, I'm working very industriously; is the project on which I'm working contained within one file or one folder that I can physically move from one version of RMMV to another? I don't want to lose all my work or suddenly find myself locked out of moving my work once the trial ends.

    Many thanks.
  2. Yes.
  3. That is good news, and you have my thanks. Where would I find it? And would I literally just copy/paste it into the new directory?

There's no "project" to speak of. You can just open the project folder.
  5. You just open the project as you do right now. No need to copy to anywhere. It's the same.
Even the Trial version and the paid version are the same. Just, without day limits.
  6. There's a folder somewhere titled <Your Project Name>.  You can either leave it where it is and have the new version look for it there, or move it somewhere in the new directory structure. Personally, I like my current project sitting on my desktop, but anywhere is fine (as a general rule keep of out Program Files (x86) as those are 'protected' directories).
  7. Ah, that is all good information. Now, if I purchase the Steam version, I assume that it will be redundantly installed to a different location, rather than the system simply recognizing that I now own a full copy and just linking my Steam to the pre-installed version. Therefore, I'd need to transfer all my project information from the trial version to the full, steam-based version.
  8. If I copy a project to another folder, how to I change the project name? Is the project name hidden away somewhere? There doesn't seem to be a "Save As ..." for projects. Thanks!
  9. To the OP, you do not need to move your project at all. When you install the Steam version you can tell it to open a project and go straight to wherever you created it.
