Art post coming tomorrow with step by step and video!

For your next round of creatures and villains...

Dark Magic Guardian - This onyx beast is charged with guarding the most valuable tomes in the depths of Mount Zurat.  Its halberd crackles with black lightning and it hefts a magick nullification shield, this guardian stands ever vigilant against those who would steal the secrets of its masters.

Ogre - An Ogre!  Big, burly, ramshackle plate bits cover the important parts.  Its weapon kind of looks like a mix of a hammer and an axe, but it would crush you before it ever cut you!

Ghoul - A undead harbinger of death and destruction.  This is but a footman in the dark army, spawned from the foulest necromatic tomes.  Its bones have distended, forming slashing claws and gouging teeth, its ragged flesh a rotten memory of time past.
  2. That's a pretty cool battler right there.

I'm not sure it is quite as "Envy" was Wrath was Wrath but I do like all the green eyes, I'd have (if I had any ability to make stuff like this) maybe had her reaching out with her free hand, grasping at the "player" (implication is to take their stuff).

But don't let that get in the way of what is otherwise a beautiful spider-woman battler!

Hard to choose from the next three though! Always need some of the more "basic" foes!
  3. Dark Magic Guardian, for sure. He sounds far more interesting.
  4. Shake it, baby! I have to stop playing Duke Nukem! :dizzy:

What a great design, I love the little details, like the eyes in the scythe. It's both somewhat creepy and yet so very cool. Thanks for another awesome contribution, Michael!

The Dark Magic Guardian is clearly the superior choice here. Who wants some grunts when you can have a badass boss? :)
  5. Fantastic as always!!!

Well Ghouls are common enemies and would be nice to have an epic ghoul picture.

    So voted for this.

Dark Magic Guardian sounds cool too though.
  6. Wow. That's really cool. I hate spiders, but this is pretty awesome. It's also kinda creepy...

Anyway, in my eyes, the Dark Magic Guardian is the clear choice here.
  7. Nice, very well done!!!
  8. Do you know what we need? We need facesets for all these guys. Do you think that'll happen at some point?
  9. Wow... She looks, amazing. Well done.

    Also...

    Dark Magic Guardian ftw!
  10. I'm curious to check out the upcoming one, now! Definitely using these.
  11. Well, I think I know which one is going to win...
  12. I'd love to see the other two in a future poll, though.
  13. Dark Magic Guardian appears to be the winner by a slight margin!

The other 2 will definitely appear again, but big boss monsters are just too tempting for you all ;)
  14. I noticed that plain monsters don't seem to do well, and that creative ones do the best...

do you sometimes put creative monster descriptions up against ordinary ones so that you can do the project you want?

You should have an ordinary monster week one day. I voted for the guardian though because it was the most interesting

I didn't really think they sounded very plain, and given the way I usually work, they would have turned out pretty badass as well.

No, I generally don't try to plan which one I will get, just look at the last vote!  3 sins monsters, I literally had no idea which one would win.

In my mind, the dark magic guardian is a 'regular' monster as well!  But I guess next time I might try to make sure they all sound 'regular'.
  16. ok. and by regular, i meant that the others didn't have as much of a description as the guardian. The others talked about the monster, while the guardians had a bit more depth to it
  17. I mean, I guess.  If you want to get technical, the Dark Magic Guardian's description is only 4 words longer than the Ghoul.

I have a document full of monster descriptions, I usually just pull 3 for a week.  I don't usually even write them all at the same time.
