Hey folks, I purchased RPG Maker MV a while back and started learning the basics but got drafted back into MMO's for a couple of years. Needless to say, I took an arrow to the knee and here I am... looking to pick up where I left off. I guess my main question is:
How do I update RPG Maker MV to the latest version? Note that I do not have an existing project to worry about trying to keep. Is it just as simple as going to my downloads page in my purchases and re-downloading the updated engine?
Secondly, I'd like to ask if there are any must have upgrades/packs/utilities I should look at that have come about in the last year or two? I recall using a lot of Yanfly's plugin's at the time and I noticed the "Spriter Pro" utility that looks kinda cool, should I grab it? Any leads on must have stuffs would be fantastic.
I know I should probably have read in the forums more before asking these questions, and I am reading even now as I wait for a reply, but I am kind of a hit the ground running sorta guy, heh. Any insight is always greatly appreciated so thanks in advance.

Here's the the latest MV update thread which is also linked on the home page of the forums. Note that the instructions are different whether you purchased the program from this site or from Steam, but all of the instructions are in that thread - and it's really straightforward.
If you don't have an existing project that you have to upgrade, it should be even easier. -
Thanks, I honestly don't recall whether I got it through Steam or from this site. I believe Steam gave me a claim number or something that I used on this site, either way I have the download registered under my purchased items in my account area on this site.

The registration key goes the other way --> If you purchase the program from this site, then you also get a registration key to activate it on Steam, if you choose.

Ah, I thought so. I kinda dislike working with Steam. If I can get around it, I do.

Since I didn't get far on my first project I decided to just re-download the whole (847mb) "RPGMV_161W_Setup.zip", uninstall the old stuff and work from the ground up. When looking over my RPG Maker billing/download page I noticed a bunch of other files (BaseResource.zip, ExtraAssets.exe, img_compressed.zip, rm-mv-plug-ins.zip, and extra-assets.zip) which I am downloading now. I guess I'll have to start searching for set-up tutorials again to figure out what to do with this stuff, any suggestions?
Did I read somewhere something about RMMV not being used anymore (I have no idea what RMMV is btw)? -
RMMV is the latest in the series and is still being used and updated. It's just the abbreviation for RPGMaker MV.

Thank you for clarifying that, after looking back over my old bookmarks I see its something called MVFU that is no longer being used.
