Am I the only one who is using RPG Maker as a Art Program as well?

  1. It's hilarious, but if you have the right development tool scripts installed(Yanfly's message script is a prime example of such), you can do things in Ace with ease, that would require you to be a master artist, to solely pull off in say Photoshop.

This very minute, I'm creating high quality Char Profile Pages. It's by no means easy, since reisizing my char pic to fit "perfectly in the window(while not distorting the pic), is a pain. However It's still beats doing everything from scratch, plus we all know how much using texts in Photoshop sucks, with RPG Maker handling the texts, it will look downright amazing. Then all you need to do is take a SS, enter Photoshop, crop out the RPG Maker maps in the background, and you have your char Profile page.

I wanted to do this to just update my char profile pages on DA(as there's only a simple text version there atm), but if these come out as good as they seem to be, I may have to add a Profile command to the menu :)

Well anyway,so am I the only person who uses RM as a art program, in addition to a game development tool?

Here's a sample, I'm not done yet, so I didn't bother to crop out the map/RM app window, but you should beable to see where I'm going with this.

PS. I may make the page as wide as the viewing screen, because it looks like I could use the extra space.

The only major restriction to using RM as a art program, seems to be, the viewing screen(lol damn viewing screen, and shame on the developers for not allowing people to edit the RGSS App in general).
  2. Realistically, if you want a customized piece of art, you'd end up having to figure out how to script the layout.

And then you'd need to actually make the art.

It would seem easier to just have the art and compose it together manually.
