I detected a bit of crossover on applying states in game between the Effects box and the Traits box. I think they essentially carry the same payload but use different delivery methods.
Would I be correct in breaking them down as such:
Add State is managed via effects box and applies (potentially via it's own success chance to hit) its state to a target through use.
Attack State is managed via traits box and applies (potentially via it's own success chance to hit) its state to a target through attack.

Yes that is correct. Apply state is applied when the skill is used, while Attack State is applied via the attack skill.

Cool.Yes that is correct.
Or I could see it being used on weapons themselves quite a bit, like for poisoned blades or cursed swords.Attack State is added via the attack skill (so you'd normally put Attack State in a state itself). -
Yeah, you normally use attack state on special weapons or special states

Just to note: the Add State: Normal Attack effect is responsible for adding the attack state(s) via an "attack" skill. =)
