Instead of just a like-button perhaps also accepted&assisted answer buttons for the OP? Perhaps even a close button as well to close the topic.
And the new download center will eventually fix it but currently when I subscribe to a post for a script/resources I only want to receive updates for new versions/content. But often people also use that same topic to ask for help and such and spam my mailbox to the point that I just unsubscribe again...

I would like a "Delete" button to your own post. It's annoying to report any post you'd like to delete.
-
@Napoleon - I am having a slow week. Whazza "accepted/assisted answer button?"
lol is it like the Staples "easy" button that automatically answers your questions?
Or do you mean a button which pats the post on the back (as it were) and indicates that it was helpful?
@Ultim - the problem with this is drive-by posts. You know - post something outrageous, get ppl upset, then delete it.
I have been on forums where you cannot even edit your posts.
My posts look horrendous in that case, lol. -
@GrandmaDeb : I have a solution, when you delete a post, mods have to approve it to be deleted (that'll be a huge pain for the mods lol)
-
Just a button that will mark that post as the accepted/assisted answer. The post will then get a green border or something and if people open the topic they can automatically jump from the OP's question to the answers.@Napoleon - I am having a slow week. Whazza "accepted/assisted answer button?"
-
@Napoleon : Yahoo Answers-ish style right ? They put that accepted answer just below the topic even if it's posted 5 years after the question.
-
It will also make it clear that the topic doesn't require any additional answers. But yeah stackoverflow, experts exchange, yahoo answers, etc. Whatever fits best here.
-
Even when people post saying their question is answered, we still have others come and respond with either the same answer or alternates. It's not a bad thing.
If people report their post when they have the answer, we'll close it.
Anything else would only be considered if there's an IPB Plugin to do it and it's easy to install and cheap (or free). And easy for the mods to work with. Anything else is just creating extra work for staff and for mods. -
Now mods have to spent time closing topics everywhere every day.
And people that respond after it (when not yet closed) can still receive an assisted answer.
But if there is no existing mod for it (probably not) then I guess it won't happen :( . -
Oh, you mean so the user can close their own topic? Now that'd be nice!
-
Yes, that would be cool.
Imagine:
Only we don't have the powder-blue yumminess like mods do.SpoilerThis topic is being closed, due to me being bored of the subject. If you'd like it open again, please PM me. Thank you. -
I'll test the powder blue yuminess
SpoilerThis topic is been closed due to me finding the answer. If you need to discuss or add and alternative solution,PM me. -
I also like it i close my topic like this
It really good for me!SpoilerThis Topic is Being Close due to me(SomeThing Happen Why I told You?) If you'd like to or really like to open it Please Don't PM me!!! -
I'd say you just close the topic, no reason given. And if there is an answer given (or multiple) then the reason should be obvious to others.
Update:
Implemented.
