I just wanna say that i absolutely love both the story and the art!! I will wait for the demo~

oh, and the linear motion battle system reminds me of early Tales Series, can't wait!!

Thank you! Yes, the lmbs is based off the one that was originally found in Tales of Phantasia. Also, the demo release is slated to be between February 8th-12th. Almost everything is programmed, I am just waiting on some custom art to be finished up.
  2. If there's one thing I love about this game pitch is that it has direction.

It's clear that you know what you want to do, and that you aren't just trying to copy something else that is successful, and that's really cool.

The art you have looks really good too, I'm loving the aesthetic a lot, it works with the game really nicely.

I'm looking forward to seeing this completed, best of luck.
  3. This is looking really great!

I can not wait to try out a demo :D

    Is this VXACE or MV?

It's MV. I originally had it on VXAce but switched over.

Edit: All the character busts for the main party are finished, demo will most likely have to be pushed back a week.
  5. Wathever the software chapter... I really like your busts!
  6. The art is beautiful! I recognized some of the the plugins and let's just say I'm really looking forward to this one!
  7. Added a video section to the main page and a test demo video. You can also watch it right here:

  8. Oh wow! LMBS! That's super fun, hope I don't forget to grab the DL when the demo comes out! : )
The battlers and portraits look neat too!

Thank you! The current release date is looking to be February 23rd now. I'll most likely put it on Gamejolt for download.

    @The_Trinity Love the voiced action!

Thanks! I did the voice of Arietta and a friend of mine did Colette.
  10. EDIT: LMAO POSTED ON THE WRONG THREAD-- gonna edit this post and reply here soon.

Edit: Cool! It's always neat to have more voice acting in RM games, besides it gives a nice depth to the characters. Maybe you could hire a singer and a composer for an opening? ;333

Oh man, let's not get ahead of ourselves here.... xD

Title art for the game done by @eadgear. They did an amazing job on this and I'm so happy with how it turned out.

February 23rd is still looking to be the demo release date. I'll announce if it has to be moved back a few more days.
  13. I can finally say the public demo for Above and Below has been released! It can be downloaded off the RPGMaker MV Steam Workshop, or Gamejolt using the links in the main post!
  14. Haven't touched the demo yet, I'm still at work.
But the presentation and the story are both looking very promising.

I'll give some deeper feedback once I've checked the demo. Do you have an estimated playtime for the demo length?

It'll take around an hour to experience all of the content.
  16. Hi,

I played a part of your demo yesterday (actually, everything except the guild initiation quest, 'cause I'm a disaster with real-time battle so Arietta died in the second random fight :frown:). I love the maps and the overall atmosphere of this game!! Really good job creating a beautiful world there.
The story pacing is good, quite fast actually, enough to keep you going on.
I did encounter quite a few passability issues (npcs walking on (horizontal) beds, on the hedges with flowers, on trees in the second village, player can walk behind the crops in the NE corner of the first village) and thought it a shame most animals don't move. Some more thoughts on the game in the spoiler:

    Spoiler
    - I had trouble finding the entrance to the forest where you find Colette, because the path doesn't align with the exit. I'd suggest shifting the entrance to the east so people can just follow the path.
    - Arietta already says her line about "there's a girl there" when the player can't see Colette yet. I'd think letting Arietta walk forward a bit until the player sees Colette as well would make the scene better.
    - I was surprised by the way Arietta and Colette almost immediately treat each other as if they've been best friends since kindergarden (at least, that's how it came across with me) If I would find someone in the forest on a dark night, I'd be a bit more reserved with them at first, until we've gone through some significant trail together and I know what I can expect from that person.
    - When you go to say goodbye to Arietta's grandparents, Colette is the partyleader. But everybody still talks as if they're talking to Arietta, that doesn't feel logical to me.
    - I would have liked to see how many of an object I was supposed to collect in both fetch-quests. The wood (why were they pouches instead of the woodpiles, btw?) was pretty obvious, but with the "stuff" I didn't know if one was enough. I just turned it in then.
    - And just one thing I would personally change: I would turn the remark of the girl with wings in the guild (leftside) into a joke (along the lines of "why are you staring at my wings, think you're the harbinger?? sorry to dissappoint you, everybody can see them")
    -

Good luck with this game, I think it has great potential!
  17. Hey there @Eraine thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I'm hoping to upload the v1.1 patch sometime this week that will fix a lot of the bugs that you've mentioned. I'm also adjusting story-based dialogue, and tweaking combat, as well as adding 3 new maps exclusive for the game trailer.
  18. Hey there @The_Trinity! I also started playing the demo. I have to say I LOVE the world history and setting. It made me nostalgic for the Legend of Heroes games, so my hat is off to you on that :). I also love the portraits and the expressions on both characters. The pacing I found to be a tad too fast but good enough to keep me alert.

I am not too far in actually. I am now trying to get the merchants' stuff back, but I'm not sure what to do? Do I keep engaging in battles until the Stuff Slime appears?

Yes, I'm upping the encounter rate on Stuff Slimes in the patch, but once you find a battle with one, just kill it and it has a 100% chance to drop Stuff. You only need 1 to complete the quest.
