Part of my current project involves a cutscene which is timed quite closely to some music.
However, as holding down the action-button in MV games causes the game to speed up certain things, the sequence can get out of sync of the player makes any inputs during the sequence.
I've managed to limit the damage by splitting it up into chunks, which are kicked off by timers - so each segment at least begins with the correct timing, but still...
The threads I've seen directed me to a couple of plugins, but these were either related to the text-fast-forward function (the sequence has no text) or they disabled the functionality purely for character movement routes. I was wondering if it's possible to disable all speed-up changes caused by user interaction.
I guess I didn't check before I made the sequence as I just assumed this would be core functionality; turns out it isn't. Can anyone help me out with this?
A way to disable player input temporarily?

Is your cutscene controlled by an autorun event? That should be all that's needed to disable player input.
How does holding down the action button speed anything up? The only thing I can think of is messages. -
I don't know if this will work but this is the part of the code I use to disable fast forward events:
Code:// Remove Fast Forward Events - On the rpg_scenes.js // Basically I remove the last part and I just leave the update Main. Scene_Map.prototype.updateMainMultiply = function() { this.updateMain(); //if (this.isFastForward()) { // this.updateMain(); //} };
I also have changed the message text fast forward. Since your cutscene don't have any text I don't think it will be useful but just in case:
Code:// Instead of Repeated input for messages, change for Triggered. Window_Message.prototype.isTriggered = function() { return (Input.isTriggered('ok') || Input.isRepeated('cancel') || TouchInput.isRepeated()); };
I hope something works.
Edit: I don't use a mouse so I don't have it in mind when changing the script. I don't know if holding down the mouse would fast forward the event...
