A Question About Resource Use

  1. Hello,

I have a question about user-made resources based on RPG Maker material.
Is it against the EULA to create artwork based on a sprite or image created by a community member that was based on the RTP art?
For example, would I be able to create my own artwork based on a RTP modification?

    Thanks.
  2. you can edit the RTP and use the edits as long as the edits are used under the same EULA, which basically means you can use the edits only in an RM game, not for anything else
  3. Ah, sorry. I should have worded my question differently.
I meant something like this scenario: If I made, from scratch, a picture of Ralph (actor 1-1 from VX) I could only use that in RM, right?
But what if I made, from scratch, a picture of an VX community edit (which is a custom character but uses the style from VX)?
  4. It depends. If it is an edit of RTP resources, then it can only be used in RPG Makers. If it is an edit of an edit of RTP Resources, it can only be used in RPG Makers.

If it is a 100% drawn from scratch resource made in the same style as RTP, you can use it in another engine, IF the artist says you can.
  5. Okay, I understand. Thanks!
